Volunteering at Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health

Check here for volunteer roles currently available.

Our people are our greatest asset and our volunteers are vital to the success of the services we offer.

Volunteering offers people the opportunity to share and develop their skills and contribute to their local community. We have volunteer opportunities across a number of programs and projects. All volunteers receive support and relevant training, and play an important role in the work of the organisation. We acknowledge and thank all current and past volunteers for the vital contribution they have made to our programs and operations.

Do you want to become a regular or casual volunteer?

There are two ways to volunteer with us, either sign on as a regular volunteer with us or join our casual volunteer pool.  Examples of the kind of work our volunteers do include:

  • Assisting with children’s programs
  • Helping young adults with a disability
  • Building the confidence of social support group participants
  • Encouraging older persons to maintain mobility
  • Offering driving services
  • Leading walking groups

We are hoping to have a pool of social volunteers of all ages (18 years +) who want to invest some of their spare time back into the community.  It is a less formal process than becoming a volunteer and the opportunities will be varied and won’t necessarily involve a regular or ongoing commitment.  Activities could include helping out at our Communi-tea Van at community events. We’ll let you know what’s coming up, when and where, then you can let us know if you want to be a part of it.

Mandatory Vaccinations

As a registered community health and family day care organisation we are included in the public health directions regarding mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations of all our staff as well as all contractors, students and volunteers. The requirement to be fully vaccinated applies to volunteers at Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health regardless of their role within the organisation.  We are required to collect, record and hold vaccination information of all our staff, students and volunteers.  For more information about mandatory vaccinations, see the Victorian Government’s coronavirus website.  If you have a medical exemption and are unvaccinated, and wish to apply, please contact our People Culture and Capability team to talk through suitability.

Safety Checks Required

Volunteers, like staff, undergo screenings to help keep everyone safe. The following mandatory checks are done at no cost to our volunteers: National Police Check, Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check.
