Social Support
We run a number of weekly social support groups to suit different interests and abilities. Our groups mostly cater for people looking to socialise and connect with people of their own age, make new friends, enjoy a meal together and recharge their mind, body and soul.
Activities can include games, music, art, craft and gardening, BBQs, woodwork, outings and guest speakers.
We also offer specific social support groups such as:
- Friday Social Blokes – a group for men of all abilities with different social needs
- New Horizons – a group for people 18 to 45 years who may find it hard to take part in social activities, and who want to make new friends and have fun
- Active Roamers – a group for those who love outings
Anyone wanting to join a group will receive an assessment, to make sure we get the right fit. Transport is often available.
Respite Care
Our respite program offers one-on-one support provided by a trained support worker to a person who may be frail, aged, have memory loss, or another medical condition which makes it hard to be home alone. Our staff offer a regular three-hour block of care to do things that are helpful for the person and their carer. This could be companionship at home while a carer goes out or getting out and about in the community. We can also assist people to look into other options for in-home respite. Places are limited by funding, times and staff availability.
