Central Victorians are being invited to attend a community consultation which will help the Loddon Gender Equality and Violence Prevention Consortium inform its submission to the Federal Government on the next National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Children.

Encouraged by the number of people who took to the streets during the Bendigo March 4 Justice to show their rage at the ongoing national crisis that is violence against women and children in all its forms, The Consortium is now turning its thoughts to how we can influence government and inform policy.

And we want people across the Loddon region to be part of the process.

We know women have had enough of their experiences being ignored; their voices silenced. They are demanding change – and joined by an increasing number of allies.

The Federal Government is currently calling for survey submissions to help inform the next National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Children.

The Consortium will host two community consultation sessions, to ensure we are capturing the voices of our region in our submission to government.  The interactive forums will involve roundtable discussions about some of the questions on the Federal Government’s ‘have your say’ survey.  We invite you to register for one of our events at the following links:

Kyneton Mechanics Institute: Wednesday 12 May, 4-6pm

Bendigo Lakeside Hotel: Wednesday 19 May, 4-6pm

People unable to attend on the day can complete the Federal Government survey online

The Loddon Gender Equality and Violence Prevention consists of: Centre for Non-Violence (lead agency), Annie North Women’s Refuge and Domestic Violence Service, Centre Against Sexual Assault Central Victoria, Women’s Health Loddon Mallee and Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health.
