UPDATE: Unfortunately this event has been cancelled due to venue restrictions.  We’ll let you know when we have re-scheduled the date.

In partnership with Proper Pilates Kyneton, we have organised a free workshop to explore the barriers that keep LGBTIQA+ people from being active.  Rainbow Active: Let’s Talk aims to look at the findings of Healthy Heart of Victoria’s 2019 Active Living Census survey which showed that people who identify as LGBTIQA+ were one of the groups less likely to meet the national recommended guidelines for exercise and physical activity.

Guest speakers include Brad Burns from Eclipse, Kyneton’s most inclusive gym, Melissa Sbaraglia, Exercise Physiologist and Stella Lesic, 2020 GLOBE Victoria winner, LGBTIQ Sportsperson of the Year and President and founder of the national Bushrangers Basketball and Queer Sporting Alliance.

Workshop participants will be able to register their interest in free ‘come and try’ sessions at local venues which have been chosen based on feedback from the LGBTIQA+ community.  As well as the taster sessions, participants will have the opportunity of ongoing support to encourage regular participation in physical activity.

Rainbow Active: Let’s Talk is on Saturday 18 September, 2.30pm to 4pm at the Social Foundry in Kyneton.  RSVPs are essential for catering and capacity limit purposes – contact Belinda Brain on 5421 1666  or  email belinda.brain@scchc.org.au.
