As part of Homelessness Week, we are taking part in a documentary screening and panel discussion to explore the problem of homelessness in the Macedon Ranges and potential solutions.
The film, Under Cover is narrated by Margot Robbie and shares the lives of an eclectic group of women across Australia, shining a light on the devastating reality that women over 50 are increasingly experiencing homelessness in the country. Their moving but optimistic portraits reveal the struggles these women face, and lay bare the flaws in our society, as well as our economic fragility in the modern world.
Organised by the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group (MRSG), the discussion panel will include:
- Bernie O’Sullivan (CEO Macedon Ranges Shire Council)
- Robert Pradolin (Housing all Australians)
- Josephine Falzarano (Rotary Club Woodend)
- Lenka Thompson (President MRSG)
- Annie Smithers (Cook, writer and owner of Du fermier, Trentham)
- Kate Weston (Team Leader Housing, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health)
- Justine Maher (Manager Housing and Family Services, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health)
