As an educator within Our Village Family Childcare, you will be part of an established high quality childcare service within a genuine values-based organisation.  You will be running your own small business with support from Our Village Family Childcare’s highly experienced, professional, and knowledgeable team.

Our Village Family Childcare is a high-quality childcare service committed to providing education and care for children from 6 weeks of age to 12 years in the homes of qualified early childhood/family day care educators.  With over 40 years’ experience, proudly not-for-profit and for families, our family day care service offers children a high-quality learning environment with a qualified and enthusiastic educator in a small group setting.

As part of the commitment to quality, all educators are supported by the Our Village central coordination unit.  Our educators recognise that children are unique and understand that they develop at their own pace.  Based on this, an individual program is created based on the child’s interests and abilities. Families will be encouraged to contribute to this program.  All education and care programs are developed in line with approved learning frameworks.

Our Village is part of Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health Community Health and is proudly a Rainbow Tick accredited organisation.  The Rainbow Tick is a quality framework that helps health and human services organisations show that they are safe, inclusive, and affirming services and employers for the LGBTIQA+ community.

About the Role

As a registered family day care educator, you will provide educational care for babies and children in your own home.  You will be responsible for the day to day running of your service ensuring quality service delivery through positive interactions with both children and families.  You will always ensure close and adequate supervision allowing for an environment that is conducive to the health, safety, development, and wellbeing of the children in your care.

All family day care educators are required to provide quality care by having the willingness and ability to plan appropriate daily routines for the children in care, as well as providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

We are currently seeking family day care educators across Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges as well as well as other regions within our scope which include Hume, Brimbank and Moonee Valley.

About You

  • You must hold a minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • You will possess sound knowledge of the National Early Childhood Education and Care National Law and Regulations as well as the Early Years Leaning Frameworks.
  • You have a positive attitude to the service as an education and childcare option and a strong commitment to provide quality education and care within the service.
  • You are able to communicate effectively with the children and adults who are clients of your family day care business and the coordination unit.
  • You demonstrate flexibility and the willingness to be open to new ideas.
  • You must have good organisational and time management skills.
