New Quarterly Luncheon
Our new lunchtime social event has been rescheduled for Friday 12 November at 12pm at the Shamrock Hotel in Kyneton. The inaugural ‘Birds of a Feather’ features guest speaker Christine Nixon and music from jazz musician Stephen Fewell, and is open to adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex and provides a new opportunity for connection and support for all members of the rainbow community, including those living in residential aged care.
The gatherings, organised by our Country LGBTI Inclusion Program, will be a safe, inclusive place where people can ‘flock together’ and make some new friends.
Christine Nixon was Australia’s first female police Chief Commissioner and the first Commissioner to have led a police contingent in a public LGBTI march at Victoria’s Pride March in January 2002. Now as the 20th anniversary of this landmark display of allyship approaches, Christine will look back on this once controversial but now celebrated moment in her policing career – one that has had lasting impact for the LGBTIQA+ community.
Jazz musician Stephen Fewell is a guitarist, writer and producer with an extensive history of more than 30 years. He will be playing classic songs from the jazz guitar greats of the 1950s and 60s, paying homage to those legends that shaped the golden era of jazz.
