We are thrilled to announce that Former Australian Rules Football player and coach, Danielle Laidley will be our guest speaker at October’s Birds of a Feather lunch which this month will be at the Kyneton Bowling Club on Friday 7 October.
For the best part of five decades, within a hyper-masculine sporting environment, Danielle Laidley harboured a secret. As a boy growing up in the backblocks of Perth, as a teenager and young man playing AFL and as a married father of three, she knew she was female, regardless of the gender she was assigned at birth. Today Danielle Laidley is leading the way in educating people on both transgender issues and the importance of diversity acceptance.
Danielle will speak about her firsthand experience of what it’s like to know you don’t fit the body you were born into, and the desperate measures taken to mask the fear of being outed and of losing those you love.
Entry is free and meals and drinks are at bar prices, RSVPs are essential. To register your interest or for further information, contact Belinda Brain on 5421 1666 or email belinda.brain@scchc.org.au.
