All families can experience difficult times and it may be beneficial to seek extra help and support.

Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health’s Family Services team provides support for families with children, from birth to 17 years of age, helping to create a positive and safe family environment, and encourage the development of happy, healthy and active children.

We work with families to identify their goals and believe that all families have the skills and expertise to create the changes they would like to see happen.

We can help if you:

  • Are worried about the wellbeing and/or development of your child.
  • Need help to strengthen your parenting skills and develop positive family relationships.
  • Need help to get through stressful times, which may be caused by a range of reasons including separation, mental health, grief, drug and alcohol abuse, financial worries, illness or living with a disability.
  • Require extra help managing the behaviour of your child.
  • Are feeling unsafe or afraid.
  • Are pregnant or a new parent and need support and advice.
  • Have concerns for a vulnerable child in your community.

Support may include:

  • Listening to you to understand the difficulties you are facing.
  • Helping you to explore your options and think about what you want to do next.
  • Working with you to improve you and your family’s situation.
  • Connecting you to services that can help, such as parenting support groups, child development services, family violence support, counselling, financial help, or legal assistance.
  • Supporting you to access funding for basic living expenses and other costs.
